Boss Bailey and Patrick Ramsey suffered injuries against the New England Patriots. Bailey’s left knee needs microfracture surgery, which is scheduled for next week. While Ramsey’s right elbow - already hurt in the preseason - got re-injured also ending his season.

Erik Pears had to be put on the reserve/non-football illness list (appendectomy).

With the release of Steven Harris from the practice squad the Broncos closed out their transactions.

First year Bronco Bailey (6th year in the NFL), started all Broncos games this year and his 43 tackles put him on forth place in the team and he also recovered one fumble.

Unlucky Ramsey (2nd year Bronco, 7th year in the NFL) played the first time this year completing 2-of-3 passes for 19 yards.

Pears, has been a 16-game starter as right tackle last season but didn’t play this year at all.

Finally also Champ Bailey will be out “at least a month” (Shanahan) with a groin injury.

Both teams hope to recover from heartbreaking losses last week: The Broncos losing by a touchdown vs the Jaguars, while the Patriots got whupped 30-10 by the Chargers.

The Patriots the dominating team of the last years is having big troubles this year: starting with the loss of QB Tom Brady in week 1 for the rest of the season, and Matt Cassel taking over the reigns, a fourth year player who never started a game in College or in the NFL. Despite that the Patriots are still 3-2 losing the other game to the Miami Dolphins, who in that game outcoached HC Bill Belichick, something until unheard of…

The defense forced two turnovers of their own — both fumbles — but the offense only got into the endzone twice, once in the first quarter and once in the fourth.

Michael Pittman had a solid day filling in for the inactive Selvin Young. He finished with 109 yards on 20 rushes, adding three catches for 16 yards as well. Brandon Marshall was the team’s leading receiver with nine catches for 98 yards.

The loss snapped the Broncos’ NFL-leading six-game winning streak at home, but the team still sits at 4-2 atop the AFC West standings.

One week after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16-13, the Broncos will face the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville sits at 2-3 in the same division as the 5-0 Tennessee Titans, so it may come out with some of the same fighting spirit the Broncos saw in Kansas City.

A team known in recent years for its defense and rushing game, Jacksonville hasn’t had everything go its way this season. The offense and defense are both ranked in the bottom half of the league. But the Jaguars are a tough team, led by fifth-year Head Coach Jack Del Rio, and the Broncos know they can’t underestimate anyone.

With the Jaguars coming off a tough loss against Pittsburgh, that sentiment becomes all the more true.

“They want to get that nasty taste out of their mouth from that loss, and they’re going to come down here with everything they’ve got trying to win this football game,” Michael Pittman said. “So as a team we’ve got to be prepared for them.”

The Broncos are expecting a slug-fest, as both teams will try to get the run game going to open up the pass. But the key to the game could be the fact that the Broncos now sport a top-three-in-the-NFL offense and a defense that proved last week it can stand up to a tough, grind-it-out test. If both sides of the ball can perform up to the standard they have set for themselves, it could help Denver pull out its fourth home victory.

Prater’s selection as AFC Special Teams Player of the Week marks the first such award of his two-year NFL career.

During the Broncos’ 16-13 win against Tampa Bay on Sunday, Prater made all three field goal attempts (55, 40, 27 yds.) and his lone extra point try for 10 points while recording touchbacks on four-of-five kickoffs

The Broncos knew they were in for a tall task against the No. 7 offense and No. 13 defense in the NFL, and at the end of the day they showed once again they can win the close ones.

In 41 career games with Denver and Cleveland, including six starts, Mustard has totaled 12 receptions for 123 yards.

Last season with the Broncos, Mustard saw time in 12 games, starting two, and had a personal-best five receptions for 62 yards. He started a career-high four games and appeared in a total of 12 contests for Denver in 2006.

The Broncos advance to 4-1, while the Buccaneers fall to 3-2.

A week after the Chiefs upset the Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium, the Broncos wanted to get back to their winning ways on their home turf. The defense set the tempo early, forcing a punt on the Buccaneers first drive. The defensive line pressured Brian Griese and Jeff Garcia throughout the afternoon, registering three sacks and an interception.

Though Tampa Bay took an early lead on a Matt Bryant field goal, the Broncos soon tied the game up. Matt Prater went three-for-three on field goals, including a long 55-yarder. He also booted four touchbacks on kickoffs.

Jay Cutler managed the offensive gameplan effectively, completing 23-of-34 pass attempts for 227 yards, including 10-yard touchdown strike to Brandon Stokley that put the Broncos up for good.
